These light and fluffy waffles combine the nutty, slightly earthy taste of buckwheat with the classic texture of all-purpose flour. A perfect balance for a nutritious and delicious breakfast!

These Buckwheat + All-Purpose Flour Waffles have a nuttier, heartier flavor with a slightly denser texture, while the Waffle House-Style Waffles are crispier on the outside and airier inside, making them more like classic diner waffles. We love them both!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup buckwheat flour
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the buckwheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  4. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  5. Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or butter.
  6. Pour batter into the preheated waffle iron, following the recommended amount per waffle (varies by waffle maker).
  7. Cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp, usually 4-5 minutes.
  8. Carefully remove and serve warm with your favorite toppings.
